Clever, quirky and hugely imaginative, discover the new eco-adventure series from the bestselling author of A Place Called Perfect.

The earth has shifted on its axis, a mysterious dark mark has appeared on the sun and the whole world is in peril. But billionaire tech genius Howard Hansom has a plan and it seems the world is happy to put their trust in him. When Grian’s sister goes missing, he’s convinced she has run off to Hansom’s new city to help save the world and that their grandfather has followed her there. When Grian and his two friends Jeffrey and Shelli track down Solas, they find that nothing is quite as it seems but why can’t they find his anti-tilt campaigning grandfather? Where is the mysterious Area 13 and what does Howard Hansom want with all the people he has enticed to live in his city? Out in the real world the days are getting darker but what’s really happening to the sun?

The sheer scope and inventiveness of this story is mind-blowing at times. Helena Duggan has created a futuristic world which is so clearly developed in all its detail it as if we have been plugged into a virtual reality machine. The most complex 3D puzzle you have ever come across. The environmental themes will resonate with and engage young readers. Cliff-hanger chapter endings, twists and turns in the plots, bluffs and counter bluffs keep you in constant suspense as you race to keep up with Grian and his friends.

At 360 pages this is the first novel in a series and will appeal to those who like to invest in their reading and are prepared to wait, albeit on the edge of their seats, for the reward. I for one am already impatient for the next volume!
