CCB is very proud to announce our new patron, best-selling author Patrick Gale.
We hosted Patrick for a sell-out event at the shop earlier this year which was a great success. He said "I'm honoured to become a patron of Crediton Community Bookshop. Quite apart from being a lively, imaginative independent bookseller of the kind that makes any visiting author's heart sing, CCB is a brilliant example of how transformative community cooperation can be."
Manager, Dee Lalljee, said "We are thrilled to have Patrick as a patron of CCB, his endorsement is credit to the work of everyone involved, and we look forward to hosting him for an event again very soon".
Patrick lives in Cornwall, on a farm near Land’s End with his husband, Aidan Hicks. There they raise beef cattle and grow barley. Patrick is obsessed with the garden they have created in what must be one of England’s windiest sites and which includes England’s westernmost walled rose garden, and he deeply resents the time his writing makes him spend away from working in it. As well as gardening, he plays both the modern and baroque cello.
Patrick chairs the North Cornwall Book Festival, is patron of Penzance LitFest and a director of both Endelienta and the Charles Causley Trust.
The North Cornwall Book Festival takes place on 4th-7th October 2018 in the stunning St Endellion with a rich variety of events and workshops including authors Nina Stibbe, Neil Ansell, Joanna Trollope, Fiona Mozley and Martin Brown.
